Today Nicholas got to have his first soccer game of the season with his new team. So, Steve, Luke, Nana, Poppol and I all went out to cheer him on. He was so excited, but a tad nervous. He should not have worried because he played so well! They had two games back to back. During the first game, he played defense for the majority of the game and he did a great job. Their team won 12-0.

Then for the second game, the competition was a little tougher. They were tied 1-1 until my baby came out with the winning goal! SCORE!!! They went on to win 2-1. The entire team just burst into cheers for him. Not only was it his first game, but he scored! Unfortunately, Steve and I were too busy cheering for him to stop and snap a photo of his first goal. Sometimes, it is more important to celebrate in the moment.

They are all such a great, supportive, fun group. He is getting the best coaching he has ever had and he is having the time of his life playing. Which as a mom is so much more important than scoring goals. Steve and I just want him to be happy. I'm so glad that he is.

PS - What was Luke doing during all this excitement? Playing with his Lego cars in the grass and eating snacks. What else should a brother be doing during 2 1/2 hours of soccer games?

Here is a photo from a couple of weeks ago when they played in the half time tournament at the UNCC vs. Campbell game. Nicholas is the one in the middle with his foot on the ball. He is so happy and excited in this picture. They had over 3000 fans out that night. He really is having the best time!
